12 Sep The Top 2 Tips for Improving your SEO Strategy
Small business owners and webmasters must understand the best ways to perform effective search engine optimization (SEO) practices. But a lot of them do not take the time to understand SEO when they make a website. If you are one of these people, then you will never get your website to show up in the search results on Google or anywhere else.
SEO is more than about putting targeted keywords in the title or headline of your blog posts. You need to write good blog content and make URLs that are noticeable. According to an SEO expert named Trish Saemann, there are two tips that any entrepreneur or webmaster can follow to increase their website ranking. They are as follows:
#1) Create Noticeable Web Page URLs
Website optimization means creating original and unique content wherever you can. This includes making your webpage URLs unique too. If you have a website address like www.xyz.com/about, that is a very generic URL address. Millions of websites on the internet have an About page with a similar subdirectory page name. If you try to rank that page on Google, it will be listed with every other about page of various websites.
Your webpage URL needs to be more specific. For instance, if you own a dry cleaning business in Yorktown, Ohio and you want to create a services page on your website, you should create a webpage URL like this: www.xyz.com/services-dry-cleaning-yorktown-ohio. If you want to use other keywords for your industry, try the Uber Suggest feature. That might help.
#2) Good Blog Content
No matter what kind of business you have, your website should include a blog. Google loves websites which have new content posted on a regular basis. Blogs give you an excuse to post new content because it can be informative and helpful to your viewers. Just don’t use fluff or filler content which has no relevance because Google will detect that. You must post authentic content which relates to your website’s topic. Remember, post helpful information that your viewers will want to see. If you just post sales ads (for example), your ranking will plummet in Google.
Your information should give readers some new knowledge and an ability to do something easily by themselves. Your posts should include targeted keywords, but don’t saturate your content with them. If you do, Google will determine that to be “keyword stuffing” and they will penalize your website for it.
Link Building
Use blogs to build links. It is recommended to place a minimum of 2 links into the content of every blog post. An internal link can be the first link on your blog. This could bring your viewers back to a previous page on the website, like your services page. An external link can be the second link. This is where you post a link on another person’s blog. This is useful because it will gain you shared traffic and likely get you noticed by some reputable people and influencers. This turns it into a reciprocal link. These types of links are what you want to have for your SEO strategy.
The Takeaway
It isn’t enough to just share your blog links. You need to also share your posts as well. The best place to do that is on social media websites like LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook. It is often easier to write and share content for other people than it is for yourself (trust me, I know).
