01 Feb Do These Things Today, Improve Your Business By Tomorrow!
Everyone is looking to improve their business, their bottom line, their profit margin. There are 1001 ways to do it. People make their own living off of telling other people how to succeed, but most of these methods take a lot of time or come with high degrees of risk. More importantly, they often come with a price.
There are things that you can do, yourself, with little outside input, that can improve your business as a leader and a worker. Here are some tips that can help improve your working relationship with your work!
Check Your Attitude
How do you usually come to work? The stress of running or belonging to a company can pile up and drag your mood down. Start a new morning routine where you leave some time to enjoy yourself, watch a video that makes you smile, sing a song on your commute – anything that puts you in a positive space so you can spread that positivity naturally.
Respect Everyone
Treating others as you wish to be treated is a staple of simple ethics. This is especially true if you’re the boss or a higher-up in a company. Don’t look down and see your co-workers as beneath you. You don’t need to swear and shout to get people motivated, you need to remember they are people. When they go home they have a whole life they want to live. Respect their time and their commitment and they’ll respect you back.
Up Your Marketing
Henry Ford said, “A man who stops advertising to save money is like a man who stops a clock to save time.” Even if you’re rewriting your checkbook to find a few extra dollars to run the business, don’t skimp on advertising. Quality products go to waste on shelves if no one knows they’re available. Starting, or revamping, a marketing campaign today can turn into profit as early as tomorrow.
Use More Time
There are only so many hours in the day. But how many of those hours are you actually, really working? Digging your feet down and focusing on making progress? Eliminate any wasted time, redundancy, or yes, free time, and focus it all on scheduling new meetings, new procedures, or participating in daily business to keep everything streamlined. Time is your most valuable resource. Make sure none of it is going to waste.
Communicate Directly
Supply chain issues impact everyone, from the manufacturers to the waiting customers. Be as clear and transparent as possible. Open up a line of communication, an email, or a phone line, just to let customers know what’s going on and how you’re handling it. That honesty is a rare find in the business world, and just knowing what’s happening behind the scenes will put a customer’s mind at ease, even if they don’t like the answer, they can at least understand that you’re trying to help.
