03 Sep 3 Ways to Build Your Brand on YouTube
YouTube is the most popular search engine on the planet, after Google. This was reported in 2018 by Search Engine Journal, and there’s no reason to think that things have changed since then!
YouTube is popular and it is powerful as well.
It’s also free!
Well…it’s free to upload your video content. There are fees to advertise on YouTube, but if you create excellent video content the chances are that your videos and your “channel” will be found organically (through search alone).
Make Full Use of The Descriptive Text
When you upload a video, you must give it a title. You have the option to write a description of the video, choose a thumbnail (an image from the video that you want people to see before they start the video itself), and tags – keywords that people may search on to find the content in your video.
It’s imperative that you write a full description of at least 250 words, using a couple of keywords to describe the content of the video. You’ll also use these same keywords as tags. At the top of the description, be sure to include the URL to your website.
YouTube only presents you a choice of three images for your thumbnail – from them select the best one that conveys what the video is about.
If you upload videos on various topics, be sure to put each video you upload into a playlist – for example, “user reviews,” “how to put our product together,” “how we fulfill our community responsibilities.” By putting videos into appropriate playlists, you will increase the likelihood that your viewers/potential customers will continue to watch more and more of your videos.
Make It Professional
You don’t have to pay a lot for professional-looking videos as long as you use some care. Inexpensive and easy-to-use video editing software such as PowerDirector allows you to make even the simplest and shortest videos stand out. It also enables you to edit together several video clips seamlessly for longer videos.
Be sure to watch videos uploaded by businesses in your niche to see how they do their opening and closing graphics. Perhaps you’ll want your logo superimposed in the bottom corner of the screen, or a signature piece of music at opening and closing to distinguish your videos from all others.
Now, here are 5 ways to build your brand on YouTube
- Create how-to videos
People buy a piece of equipment that has to be put together. The instructions are typically useless – lots of little images, and no text! If your business produces these types of products – put together some how-to videos. If your niche is some kind of software, put together videos on how the various features work.
- Create story videos
Take your customers/clients on a tour of your headquarters or production facility. Show them how you serve your community (sponsoring sports teams, volunteering for 5/10Ks, and so on). Interview your employees – or your satisfied customers.
Try to do a story video at least once every two weeks.
- Encourage video reviews
In your packaging, and on social media (you do use Facebook and Twitter, don’t you?) encourage your customers/clients to record themselves reviewing your products. A whole slew of testimonials with real people can create quite an impact. Should you receive a bad review – be sure to respond to it, evaluate the comments, and make changes to your product if necessary!
There are many more ways to build your brand on YouTube – watching the videos of your competitors will inspire you with your own original ideas!
